Day 7: Coral Pink Sand Dunes Surfing

Writer: Hans PedersenHans Pedersen

On day 7 we visited the Coral Pink Sand Dunes outside Kanab. These dunes are formed from the erosion of pink-colored Navajo Sandstone surrounding the park. High winds passing through the notch between the Moquith and Moccasin Mountains pick up loose sand particles and then drop them onto the Dunes.

The girls had lots of fun doing some sand surfing despite getting very sandy :)

In the afternoon I went for a trail run at the small mountain in the back of Kanab.

We finished our last evening there with a traditional dinner at The Iron Horse Restaurant, getting ready to continue our South Western US road trip to the next Utah destination: Salt Lake City.
